Securing scholarships for students is one of the Jefferson College Foundation's primary responsibilities.
Our scholarship program is intended to provide support for traditional and non-traditional students enrolled in a wide variety of Jefferson College programs. Without donor support, many of our students would not be able to attend college and achieve the life-enhancing goal of receiving a higher education.
Today more than ever, there is a great need for student scholarship support.
Many Jefferson College students are first-generation college students juggling work, home, family, and trying to prepare for a career. Your donation to Fund A Future not only helps deserving students pay for tuition, books, fees, and other college-related expenses, it also shows someone who is desperately trying to make a better life for themselves that someone is out there who believes in them and is willing to help them succeed.
Your tax-deductible donation to the Foundation provides the support our hard-working, dedicated students need to keep his or her life on track.
At Jefferson College, students who ask for help get the help they need! Donations to the Foundation's Fund A Future campaign has a positive and profound impact on the lives of our students.
EVERY GIFT in ANY AMOUNT makes a profound difference in the life of a student!
The following are actual quotes from letters received by the Jefferson College Foundation from students who received a scholarship. These sentiments reveal the deep appreciation for help offered through the generosity of scholarship donors. Here are a few of their stories.
Six years after dropping out of high school, this young man, independent and determined to make something of himself, began a course of study at Jefferson College; however, the high cost of medical bills due to diabetes added financial obstacles threatening the completion of his studies. He wrote:
“You [the Foundation] and Jefferson College are helping make my dream a reality and helping me to accomplish something that I never thought I could. I cannot thank you enough for offering this scholarship to me. It has taken the weight off my back and has given me the chance to focus on what is important, my education. I am going to school to become a teacher and I can only hope that someday, I can be as much help to someone as you and Jefferson College have been to me.”
Additional financial obligations almost caused a young woman to quit in the final semester of achieving her associate’s degree. She received $500 from the Jefferson College Foundation, which was enough to relieve this ill-timed crisis. She wrote:
“Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to finish my education. With this scholarship, I can buy my books and finally be able to complete my courses and become the first person in my family to graduate from college with a degree.”
Financial worries cause people to become distracted from things that help them in the long-run. To a single mother trying to improve herself, several hundred dollars is the difference between continuing her education or not. One student from our nursing program wrote:
“Nurses hold a special place in my heart. You see, my six-year-old was born with medical issues and still struggles every day. I know what it’s like to feel scared, helpless and out-of-place in a healthcare setting. I will go the extra mile for those in my care, making sure they are comfortable and that their experience will go smoothly. I thank you from the depth of my being. This scholarship brings me closer to reaching my hopes and dreams.”
When this woman’s financial woes were mounting, donors like you helped the Jefferson College Foundation come to her rescue. She wrote:
“Yesterday, I received a great gift. The gift was a letter from Jefferson College’s Foundation informing me that I had received a scholarship. It is inspiring to know that there are people who are willing to take a chance on an unknown individual. Thank you so much and God bless you!”
